2021.12.02 13:12 serpentine117 Changing the date of a reservation just to be able to cancel it for a full refund?
Guest wanted to cancel their reservation day of their check in date so that they can get a refund. We require cancellations to be 72 hours prior to day of arrival in order to get the first night room and tax fee refunded. So after we told them we would be keeping the fee they said to keep the reservation and move it to a week later, and then they cancelled it. Do they still get the refund?

2021.12.02 13:12 DinahKarwrek I need a storage unit, and advice
I left an abusive relationship out of state a year ago. I intended to move to the metropolitan area near me, because I know people (a decade removed, so more like acquaintances than friends at this point) where I'm from, but was forced for financial reasons to settle in a smaller city about an hour away. Unfortunately child care has been unavailable due to the age range waiting lists, reduced capacity, my hourly needs and my children are not legally old enough to stay home alone. I have been able to feed, clothe and get my oldests to school this whole year. I have food stamps, Medicaid, and do receive TANF. My former situation (my ex) caused some pretty insane credit card bills and I had been pinching pennies to make sure they were paid. Combined with the overwhelming financial strain of supporting a family on my own without actual gainful employment, I quickly started paying for things on credit cards again. I haven't been able to pay those bills and my credit tanked this year. I'll figure that out eventually. So, I had paid my rent early every month, and when I saw financial strain in the future I signed up for a rental payment program in July. Yesterday I received an email from my landlord stating "Good morning! Your rental assistance was denied let me know when you will be paying in full. Have a great day!". Today I received a text was more aggressive, starting I had until Monday before I'm given a notice and her lawyer becomes my ONLY contact. My lease expires at the end of the month, and I was already packing. I was going to use the money I made this month (home dog boarding, and work I bring my kids to), with the deposit from here, to put down a deposit on a rental above a friend of mine in the city. There is no reason I should have been denied the rental assistance. I told her I planned on reapplying and she told me she was not going to authorize that and will not participate herself. She wants the money to come directly from me. I've had so many issues with this landlord, Ive been speaking to a legal aid lawyer about the many, sometimes dangerous, habitability issues I've had with her since moving in (appliances don't work, lighting is faulty, dangerous staiwell issues etc I'm waiting for my second building inspection currently) no intention of renewing the lease. In an attempt to reset myself I have been working with a domestic violence non-profit closer to the city, for therapy and resources. They offered a transitional housing program with the stipulation of my landlord documenting she would not be renting to me again (must prove imminent need for housing). She refused even after I explained how it was not affecting her, and it would only ensure I didn't have to go to a homeless shelter (the only other way to prove housing need). Prior to finding out about the denial, I had asked for a walkthrough the week I am scheduled to move out to retain as much as my deposit as possible. I would be entering the homeless shelter, and need to use as much as that to pay ahead of time so I don't lose my belongings. She refused telling me they only inspect upon regaining possession of the property, I will not be there. She's kept the past 2 tenants deposits (multi-unit) in full, but that is hearsay I suppose. I will be documenting how it's left. I've been documenting everything for a year with her. I do not have parents to contact, and I have no one in this town. I'm hoping at the best very least, a storage unit, somewhere on the north side of the metropolitan area I'm hoping to go to. I just need something large enough to put our things and have space to go in and change our clothes and keep up appearances until I can get myself into housing with my three children. I understand the abusive relationship and everything leading up to today were decisions I made, and I guess I need to pay the price for it, and I understand this... But please be kind. If you have advice I am open to hear it too. I am more than willing to provide documentation, identification, Even meeting people in person if they want to help me navigate what's going on in my life.
TL:DR I'm going to be homeless at the end of the month with my three kids because I was denied rental repayment, and she refuses to allow me to reapply. I will not be able to rent right after this. She also refused to help me get into a housing program. My available money is going to a U-Haul, and surviving without a home with 3 kids. I need to get a storage unit to keep us from losing everything while I'm building us back up.

2021.12.02 13:12 Scramer98 Possible Lemon Car From Bad Dealership (Need Help)
Here's the long backstory to this (not so) wonderful car I purchased.
Used 2017 Ford Escape SE with 57,000 miles. I day I bought it (11/3), I got home and found the headlights didn't work. Brought it back for repair and had it fixed ( 11/4, repair #1). A few days and 300 miles later, I realize the car was vibrating at times and had a hard shift between 2nd and 3rd gear, and then a message popped up for a powertrain malfunction. I brought it to the dealership I bought from, who then sent my car to Ford be repaired (11/8 Repair #2). Ford spent 2.5 weeks replacing the torque converter and I was supposed to pick up the car yesterday (12/1). I called yesterday to see if I can pick up my car, and I was told that my starter "took a dump" and they have to replace it and will have my car ready the next day (Today 12/2, Repair #3). Haven't heard back yet to see if it is ready.
So for the 28 day's that I've owned the car, I've had it for 4 days, and the dealership has had it for 24 days. This is a BAD BAD BAD dealership. Not to mention they didn't tell me the car had one set of keys and no floor mats until after I purchased the vehicle.
Do I have enough evidence to put together a lemon car case and get my money back? When I pick up my vehicle, what paperwork can I ask for? Evidence of repair with dates that they had the car for? Part numbers for the torque converter and starter that were replaced? I have a feeling they didn't replace the starter and are trying to filabuster a potential lemon law case.
ANY AND ALL ADVISE WILL BE TREMENDOUSLY APPRECIATED. This is my first car and I am so upset with what came of it.
