Organization Technique Wanted (managing service desk and to-do list)

2021.10.24 14:51 thecoloradoran Organization Technique Wanted (managing service desk and to-do list)

Hey there,
I've been searching for an ideal process and decided it was time to reach out to the IT community. I am the Director of Tech for a very small company. I manage one employee and am faced with an organization/task list problem. Currently, we use a DIY tech support system to assist our 90 users, it's DIY and not fail-proof but dialed in for the most part (lacking documentation and scheduling). I have been putting all my to-do list items and individual project steps on this list as well because I like having everything in one place, but my role is becoming more complex. My questions for you are;

  1. What are your thoughts on keeping a tech request list strictly tech requests submitted from users and having a separate to-do list for my items and projects?
  2. What would you suggest for a to-do list? I've sampled a lot of programs - Trello, Wrike, Microsoft To Do, Microsoft Planner. And there were pros and cons to all of them.
My to-do list items range from single task things (email X about Y) to small projects that may have a couple of subtasks.
I also manage our Product team. So I have the tech request list for service desk items, Jira board for Product management, and ??? for my to-do list.
What is your current productivity system? I love learning about this stuff. TIA.

2021.10.24 14:51 empirestateisgreat error: you need to load a kernel first (how do I automatically load kernel, set boot parameters etc in grub?)

I've had some trouble with grub for the past days. After hours of googleing + trail and error, I managed to find a solution, and I can now boot up my arch system manually, but I don't know how to do it automatically.
When I boot up my PC, I get into the grub prompt (not grup rescue, I fixed that already). From there, I have to type the following commands to get into my system:

set root=(hd0,msdos2) linux (hd0,msdos4)/vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/sda2 initrd (hd0,msdos4)/initrdramfs-linux.img boot
(hd0,msdos4) is my boot partition, and (hd0,msdos2) is my root partition. Before I run the commands above, grub apparently configures it differently:
$root 'hd0,msdos4'
For some reason, it believes my boot partition is my root partition, and it can't find the kernel and initrd automatically. How do I solve this? How do I make grub find the kernel, initrd on boot automatically, and make it define the root path correctly?
Here is some additional info that could be useful:
- /boot/ is empty while being inside of grup, so it isn't mounted to (hd0,msdos4) (boot partition) yet. It mounts after I'm in my system however.
- I have a BIOS which doesn't have the option of Secure Boot.
- I'm on arch linux, and I don't have any special kernel.
sudo blkid outputs this (only sda2 and sda4 should be relevant to this issue):

2021.10.24 14:51 anonymous_person_29 I'm not going to wear bras anymore.

I've decided that I'm not going to wear bras anymore. Not even sports bras. I am lucky enough to have small boobs so I don't even need one. I don't give a crap if you can see my nipples through my shirt. If anyone comments I'll just be like "sorry if my nipples offend you". It's so bloody unfair how men can walk around with their tits hanging out but if you can see nipples through our shirt we are being "inappropriate".

2021.10.24 14:51 Emissairearien Who are those people that keep taunting ?

Sometimes i see players (often playing broken heroes, of course) that will always taunt everyone. Spamming "Sorry!" or "Thanks!" after each fight no matter the results , emoting the whole team even if you've never fought him before , ganking like his life depends on it , ...
So yeah im wondering if anyone knows why are they doing this ? Do they just want to make people angry ?

2021.10.24 14:51 bigweeduk Should I send a company wide email thanking my colleagues (not boss) after I have left?

I recently left my job of 12 years. I made a separate post about my treatment after 12 years of loyalty which received quite a big response:
Loyalty does NOT pay
I wasn't allowed to tell my colleagues I was leaving beforehand. I had been on parental leave so wasn't in the office. I went in on my final day thinking my boss would have told people I was leaving but he hadn't. It threw me off so much I didn't really think straight and say thank you to all the people I have worked with over the years
I'm now wondering if I should send an email, from my personal email account, to all my colleagues. It's been nearly 1.5 weeks since I left. I was thinking something along the lines of the comment by gxchung1 or Legitimatead4834 in the Reddit post below, :
How can I figuratively give my asshole boss the finger on my last day at work?
Good idea, bad idea, or stupid idea?
